Overview

Zanzibar

The soft, unhurried finish to a safari — white sand, warm water, and Stone Town's old spice-trade streets. We pair it with the northern circuit for guests who want bush and beach in one arc.

What Makes Zanzibar Unique

Stone Town: The Swahili Cultural Core

A maze of narrow alleyways featuring Arab fortresses, Persian baths, Indian carved balconies, and over 500 brass-studded "Zanzibari doors." Visit the Former Slave Market Site & Anglican Cathedral, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Palace Museum. Every evening at sunset, Forodhani Gardens transforms into an open-air night market serving grilled seafood and Zanzibari pizzas.

Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park

Zanzibar's only national park protects the last remaining stronghold of the endangered Red Colobus Monkey, found nowhere else on Earth. Boardwalks weave through groundwater mahogany forests and tidal mangrove swamps.

Spice Plantations

Guided agro-tourism tours in rural central Unguja let travelers touch, smell, and taste fresh spices directly from the trees — cloves, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, and lemongrass.

Top Activities

Scuba diving and snorkeling at Mnemba Atoll, kitesurfing at Paje on the southeast coast, traditional dhow sunset cruises, a visit to the giant tortoise sanctuary on Prison Island, and the full-day Safari Blue boat excursion across Menai Bay.

Seasonal Insight

Long Dry Season (June to October) — peak season. Clear skies, lower humidity, 26–29°C. Best for snorkeling, diving, beach relaxing, and pairing with a Northern Circuit migration safari. The Kusi wind makes the southeast coast (Paje, Jambiani) ideal for kitesurfing.

Hot & Dry Season (December to February) — summer high season, 30–34°C with warm, calm seas. Best for deep-sea fishing and diving around Mnemba. The Kaskazi wind creates glassy sea conditions on northern beaches like Nungwi and Kendwa.

Green Seasons (March–May & November) — the long rains (April–May) bring heavy afternoon showers, lower rates, and minimal crowds; the short rains (November) are light and rarely disrupt day activities — excellent value for budget travelers.
