A fast-paced safari for travellers short on time β fly in from Zanzibar, spend a night in the bush at Tarangire, then descend into the Ngorongoro Crater before flying back the same evening.
| Day | Location | Experience |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Tarangire National Park | Tarangire National Park |
| Day 2 | Ngorongoro Crater | Ngorongoro Crater |
Fly from Zanzibar into Arusha and set off for Tarangire National Park, driving across the Maasai Steppe before joining the ArushaβDodoma highway. Game drives begin right at the park gate, with strong odds of spotting elephant herds, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and the park's rarer residents β the Fringed-eared Oryx, Gerenuk, and Ash's Starling. The Tarangire River and its dam are the park's only permanent water sources, drawing wildlife β and the predators that follow them β close together for excellent viewing. Lunch is taken inside the park, with a late-afternoon stop at the Lake Manyara viewpoint on the Rift Valley escarpment before settling in for the night.
After breakfast, drive up to the Ngorongoro Crater rim, pausing at the viewpoint for your first look down into the caldera, then descend the crater's steep walls for a full morning of game viewing on the floor. Permanent water and grazing support dense wildlife year-round, including the rare black rhino, and predator sightings β lion, hyena, jackal, and the more elusive leopard β are common here. Lunch is served on the crater floor before the drive back to Arusha for your return flight to Zanzibar.
